CHS-Grainland has an exciting opportunity in our Country Operations Division. We are looking for an Area Grain Operations Manager to cover our Eastern trade territory who has a strong understanding of the industry. You will oversee multiple grain facilities in our eastern region (Amherst, Julesburg & Lamar, CO). You must be a proven leader able to motivate and lead employees to achieve desired results.

You will:

  • Manage multiple grain facility operations according to cooperative objectives to provide patrons with prompt, courteous and effective service while maintaining the efficiency necessary to achieve a maximum profit.

  • Establish and implement a program for the grain facilities to include housekeeping, safety and equipment maintenance to avoid breakdowns and limit safety hazards.

  • ​Utilize personnel, equipment and facilities within CHS to provide excellent customer service maximize operational efficiencies.

  • Oversee the accurate weighing, grading, and quality control to include mixing, blending and moving grain.

  • Monitor stored grain condition.

  • Coordinate movement of grain, receiving, grading, loading and storage with Grain Department Manager and other Location Managers.

  • Educate both employees and patrons in the operations of the cooperative and CHS business objectives to enhance employee effectiveness and improve member relations.

  • Establish and implement short-term goals consistent with long range plans for growth in operation, including facility, equipment, and personnel.

  • Supervise staff through responsible training, clear job assignment definition, and explanation.

  • Monitor work of all employees to correct deficient performance and effectively reward and develop all employees.

  • Assist in developing budget and asset needs, manage approved operating budget.

  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.

  • Follow all company policies and procedures.

  • Work extended hours as needed to meet business needs.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Basic Qualifications: (required)

  • Associate’s degree (additional years of agriculture experience may offset degree requirement)

  • 10 plus years of agriculture/supervisory experience to include:

  • 5 plus years of supervisory experience

  • Grain handling experience

  • Understand basic business principals of inventory management

Preferred Qualifications: (desired)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or Agriculture related program (additional years of agriculture experience may offset degree requirement)

  • Agribusiness/Location management experience
