Broadband Technician IIIJob LocationsUS-CO-ArvadaID2020-15966CompanyTDS Cable OperationsOverviewThe Broadband Technician III position performs extremely complexinstallations, disconnects and service changes for residential and businesscustomers, including FTTH (Fiber to the Home) and support PON/Metro E.These services include, but are not limited to, video service, HSDServices, and home/business phone service. This role performs advancedtroubleshooting from the tap to the customer's electronic devices (TV,DVD, Modem etc.). This position will be responsible for installing,splicing, repairing and maintaining aerial, buried, and/or undergroundfiber optic and copper cable. This position will be knowledgeable of commonlyused concepts, practices, and procedures within the field oftelecommunications**This position has a work shift of 8 AM - 5 PM Monday-Friday**ResponsibilitiesPerform complex installation of all necessary cable wiring (interior andexterior) and hardware from the tap to the customer's equipment forreception of cable and other company services that are offered for single,multi-family, and/or commercial dwellings. This may include subject matterexpertise related to the RF distribution of signals. All aspects of thenetwork from the optical node to the distribution tap may be included assubject matter criteria. This may include system architecture - designprinciples and HFC architecture; distribution components - actives,passives and coaxial cable; signal types - analog, modulation schemes,frequency spectrum and impairments; maintenance and troubleshooting -sweeping, FCC rules, retum path, test equipment, status monitoring andtroublesPerform connects (new connects and reconnects), disconnects (requestedand non-pays), upgrades, downgrades, and relocates; installadditional outlets, fiber connections, hardline cutovers, and install orremove equipment (i.e. converters)Perform all work as necessary to conform to quality control guidelines(includes compliance with requirements outlined in applicable regulationssuch as: OSHA, FCC NEC and NESC)Test equipment to identify and repair signal strength issues and ensureoptimum reception. Use Locators, TDR's, FDR's and read system maps requiredMonitor and record system, drop, and in-house leakage; properly recordall required information on work orders, surveys, referrals, etcPromote cable, internet, and other company services; educate customer onproper use of the service, including how to add additional services,channel lineups, proper equipment usage, and other services that are availableQualificationsRequired Qualifications3+ years' cable installation .and. repair or professionally related experienceMust have and maintain a valid driver's licenseOther QualificationsUpon hire, must successfully complete customer-specific requirements,which may include a background check administered by the customerRequires being available for on-call/standby responsibilities and mayrequire occasional travelCertifies proficiency in the subject matter expertise related to the RFdistribution of signals.
