Electronic and Controls System TechnicianClassificationFull TimeMonday - Friday 8am-4:30pmDirect HirePay Rate$24.57/hrReports toManager of Life Safety SystemsJOB DESCRIPTIONSummaryResponsible for repair, maintenance, installation, and programming ofall ET systems and devices. Integrated systems include digital addressable,analog, and IP based fire alarms, burglar alarms, access controlsystems, interior communication systems, and UHF hand held radios andfixed in place automated UHF repeaters with subsystems. In addition,technicians are responsible for repair, programming, and maintenance ofsecurity CCTV, CATV, automated central station receivers and dispatchconsole, theatrical lighting and sound systems, portable PA systems, VHFclock transceivers, and indoor/outdoor scoreboards. All ET systems requirea working knowledge of DOS and high level knowledge of enterprise levelsoftware. Occasionally techs are required to setup and operate (live)sound mixing consoles, video projectors, wired and wireless microphones,amplifiers and speakers for district related events. Technicians also performannual/semi-annual inspection and sensitivity test of fire alarm systems;maintain related documentation as required by local AHJ. May assist withtranslation and/or communication using second language skills when possible.Essential FunctionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilitiesto perform the essential functions.Repair, maintain, program, test and inspect all ET systems. Ensure thatFire Alarm systems meet or exceed local and national codes and standards anddocument/record complete history of each system. Serves as the ImpairmentCoordinator as required by current National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA)and International Finance Corporation (IFC) standards.Inspects contracted projects to insure compliance with all District qualitystandards, safety practices, policies, and procedures. Attendsconstruction meetings as needed.Perform scheduled installation and replacement of all ET systems andequipment.Program and extract data from ET systems to facilitate repairs, upgrades,and maintains database.Maintain databases, perform inventory of Alarm system maps, drawings andfiles.Program UHF hand held radios and Access control pendants.Perform annual and semi-annual sensitivity and operational test of all ETsystems and equipment.Perform other duties as assigned.Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposedto risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to wetand/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precariousplaces; fumes or airborne particles; outdoor weather conditions; extremeheat; and vibration.
