In this role, you will get to work with an amazing Software Team in a collaborative environment at a state of the art facility in Aurora, Colorado. You will be joining the APEX Program where our software engineers and architects are developing the ground-based mission planning and command and control software to accommodate the next-generation satellite capabilities, and implementation of new ground terminals. Our complex domain requires creative solutions to meet evolving customer needs. On Apex you will work with team of gifted engineers to develop and improve advanced algorithms that handle large data sets with complex constraints.
What You'll Get to Do:
As a Chief Software Architect, you will responsible for defining and designing the system software architecture to meet system requirements and customer needs. As the Apex Chief SW Architect, you will be the decision-making authority for the program software architecture and is accountable to the Apex Program Manager, Deputy Program Manager, and Program Engineer.
Specific tasks include:
Develop scenarios in support of concept definition of the Apex system
Oversee and guide overall program architecture
Assure the software architecture aligns with the program and customer architecture
Interface with stakeholders on conceptual issues including the desired quality attributes, system engineers on multi-design issues, software engineers on creative structural features and implementation techniques
Assure efficient and economical software changes are implemented
Interface with end users to ensure final product supports desired operational concepts and day in the life
Assure the deployment architecture meets desired operational concepts
Assist the Chief Engineer to ensure complete and accurate reporting of inventions and new technology
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. citizen with a Current/Active U.S. Government TS/SCI security clearance
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or other relevant technical discipline.
10 years of demonstrated engineering leadership experience with a proven track record
Excellent understanding of architecture governance and design principles
Experience conducting software architecture in systems that interact with multiple external entities
Experience in software interface definition, documentation, and implementation
Experience developing and reviewing DODAF architecture views
Experience documenting software architecture using UML
Knowledge of satellite systems and ground architectures
Ability to decompose and communicate systems software architecture and governance concepts
Ability to help create a vision and lead a team to implement common principles across the program
Ability to determine solutions compliant with system performance, availability and reliability constraints
Strong analytical and problem solving abilities. Reviews and judges the suitability of capability solutions and the planned approach
Knowledgeable of systems engineering roles and functions, including operations concept development, requirements management, functional analysis, interface definition and control, integration, verification and validation.
Demonstrated ability to effectively work with and communicate with management and individual contributors on the program team. Advises stakeholders on issues affecting the “broader” engineering approach to engineering activities
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a dynamic environment with multiple competing priorities and deadline constraints requiring rapid turnarounds
Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of tools (including Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint)
It Would Be Great if You Also Had:
Experience with requirements development and maintenance
Domain experience using Apache Spring/Camel
Knowledge of DevOps methodologies
Knowledge of Agile SW Development
Experience with IBM Rational DOORS and Enterprise Architect tools
Knowledge of and experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery concepts
Knowledge of and experience with micro service architectures
Knowledge of and experience with cloud computing architectures
Experience with development of software solutions for real-time system monitoring, reporting, and fault analysis
Experience in development of satellite data handling and processing software
Experience with system availability and system latency analyses and design considerations
Experience with new business development efforts through leading and writing proposals, supporting Engineering Bid Reviews (EBR)
Raytheon certified for creation of Technical Description and Basis of Estimates (TDBOEs) or equivalent

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $140,500 to $197,000; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, work experience, education/training, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
This position requires a U.S. Citizen with a current/active U.S. Government TS/SCI security clearance.
