The Security and Mission Assurance Strategic Support Unit provides discriminating support to the business to ensure success. We focus on threat identification, risk assessment, and mitigation while improving the efficiency of the business through effective governance and analysis of process, data and overall business knowledge.

QC Inspector Lead – Quality Assurance

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide leadership to Quality personnel across numerous project centers and programs. Perform in a back-up capacity, inspection of materials, articles, processes, or tests in order to assure compliance to established requirements.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with customer counterparts, within the department, the programs/project centers and the company.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and/or external customers.

  • Provide daily leadership to employees/peers for specific tasks, direction, and priorities.

  • Provide leadership support for employees, tasks and cross-functional teams.

  • Provide input for, write, and/or deliver performance evaluations/reviews.

  • Recommend and/or initiate strategies to program, project, and organizational teams.

  • Develop & maintain working knowledge of Ball Process Library.

  • Accept or reject materials or articles; identify and document non-conformances to engineering, specifications, & standards and notify appropriate personnel of potential rejection of items.

  • Apply/enforce/comprehend accept/reject criteria and revision status from engineering drawings, MIL-specs, screening specs, or process certification training.

  • Witness or monitor functional/performance testing in a back-up capacity at sub-assembly and/or end-item level.

  • Obtain and maintain all certification process certifications required for assigned tasks.

  • Ensure employees you lead are current with their certifications.

  • Perform in a back-up capacity Final Inspection and review documentation required for end-item shipments.

  • Develop personnel through formal and informal mentorship, reviews and personal actions, recognition programs and group/1:1 interaction.

  • Provide leadership with future program/project center employment needs.

  • Perform in a back-up to full capacity for all source inspection travel being assigned to employees.

  • Be responsible for assigned equipment to include maintaining current calibration status

  • Attend 1:1 and Department meetings.

  • Resolve Quality Control problems within the department and other organizations.

  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Support Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What You’ll Need:

  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 14 years or more related experience or a related 2-year technical degree and 12 years or more related experience.

  • Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor’s or Master’s, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.

  • Mastery level of competency in Quality Control (QC) principles, tools (i.e. micrometers, calipers, etc.), and standards.

  • Ability to independently resolve QC related issues to closure or conclusion.

  • Initiative and independence in areas of expertise and knowledge.

  • Familiarity with basic computer usage for data entry and required employee interaction (i.e. email, performance reviews, inspection results).

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.

  • Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

A current DoD clearance and/or SCI access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position, however applicant must be willing and eligible for submission within 60-90 days after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
