VMware Application Platform Customer Success Architect in Broomfield, Colorado
Customers are evolving their strategies for application transformation and they look to VMware to guide their direction with applications in a Hybrid Cloud environment. As a Customer Success Architect, you will work directly with customers, field sales, delivery and product development teams to help ensure the successful incubation, adoption and enablement of VMware technologies to enable the transformation of applications in private cloud and hybrid cloud environments.
Job Role and Responsibility
The Customer Success Architect for Application Platforms engages with VMware customers (especially critical customers) to ensure they are successful in implementing cloud based application platforms that deliver high performance, modern flexibility, and determine SLA in a feasible manner. The application platform architect is a highly specialized role with VMware, and it has three major job functions:
Customer interactions on workshops and critical issuesEvangelism across the globe in crafting thought leadership in the application platforms space, including cloud native applications.Interaction with engineering and product management to channel feedback and improve overall product solutions, and

Ability to have architectural conversation with customers that cover solution use cases, and not just product specific
Develop application platforms solution prototypes using VMware technologies along with any third-party tools and products
Develop methodologies where needed, and provide product advisory to improve product documentation
Provide advisory to the VMware GSS support team in the space of application platforms
Write automation software developed in GO/Python, as it pertains to POC and HOL examples when needed in specific customer use case
The position requires 30% travel - this is typically handled on a prioritization basis
10+ years application architecture experience at enterprise level
5 years of software development experience in Java, C++ or .NET
Experience in troubleshooting and tuning of enterprise applications and/or data platforms (in-memory databases, messaging systems, NoSQL databases, etc.) preferred
Experience in developing software automation solutions with Python, Golang or Perl preferred
Understands how the digital transformation affects application architecture and development within the enterprise
Knows about current trends in software architecture, e.g. Microservices, container technology, scalable architectures and backend systems
Deep understanding of distributed systems architectures, challenges and design implications, e.g. on consistency guarantees, (tail) latency, failure-tolerance, and consensus
Strong knowledge of systems and architecture, with an understanding of operational and reliability trade-offs.
Understanding of the container ecosystem, trends, and how those relate to building modern distributed applications. For example, rich experience with container cluster management solutions such as Docker Swarm, Mesos or Kubernetes as well as how these relate to solutions from VMware Cloud-native Applications. Exposure to Redhat Openshift preferred
7 years’ experience working with multi-national customers in various areas, e.g. platforms, infrastructure, architecture, support, etc.
Experience in systems administration and heterogeneous environments, e.g. OSes especially Linux and Windows
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
Customer focus, passion and centricity
Ability to work well with and able to influence advanced customer architects, technical staff and executive staff using appropriate domain language to detail out each solution
Active in the Open Source community, e.g. by contributing code and knowledge
