Oracle System Administrator 5-IT in Broomfield, Colorado

Define, design, and implement network communications and solutions within a fast-paced, leading edge database/applications company.

Responsible for creating and implementing system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system. Manage the load configurations of a central data communication processor and make recommendations for purchase or upgrade of data networks. Works on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data consists of an evaluation of intangibles.

Individual should hold at least ten years of related experience in a medium to large network distributed and computing environment. Individual should hold a BS in Computer Science or related field.

Ability to juggle multiple projects and set priorities for day to day operational tasks

Working efficiently with operations and cloud engineers in troubleshooting escalated issues and developing workarounds

Working directly with customers manage and resolve Service Requests on Oracle products and contribute to proactive support activities according to product support strategy and model

Actively share knowledge via Training sessions, Formal Mentoring, Creation/Review of Knowledge Repository Articles

Consults with Management in directing resolution of critical Customer situations

Participates in initiatives that improve overall product and documentation quality

Working with development on product improvement programs

Serves as Situation Manager on highly sensitive proactive and reactive Customer issues

Promotes the technical and professional development of others, i.e. mentoring others

Proactively contribute to increasing the teams efficiency by sharing knowledge, providing feedback about best practices, writing tools / utilities

Participate in weekend rotation and on call shifts

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

Have at least two of the following technical skills:

Understanding of Oracle Enterprise Manager features including 10g/11g Grid Control or 12c Cloud Control

In depth operating system knowledge (Unix, Linux and/or Windows)

Expert in Middleware products and technologies such as Weblogic or SOA

Expert in Oracle Database products

Qualifications

7-10 years of supporting critical enterprise applications

5 years of operational support/development experience in a cloud environment

Strong Oracle Enterprise Linux or RedHat experience

Experiance with network and system monitoring systems such as Nagios, Oracle enterprise manager, Netcool

Experience with a wide variety of technologies: monitoring, ticketing, security, access management, etc.

Experience with Chef/Chef Enterprise a plus

Experience with Windows, Linux and Oracle technologies

Experience with relational databases including Oracle 11g/12c

Programming in Java, Perl and/or SQL/PL-SQL

Application Server/Weblogic Server

Storage management (EMC, Storagetek, ExaData, )

Networking administration

Excellent communication skills

ITIL or similar qualifications a plus

Experience working in a fast paced agile environment designed around short iterations using continuous integration

Ability to operate under pressure with an extreme attention to detail is required

Experience working in a regulated environment (HIPAA, PCI, etc.) a huge plus

BS or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Participate with a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

Apply your knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and occasionally suggest improvements to the architecture.

Leads a specialized area which may have diverse functional elements. Frequently interacts with supervisors and/or functional peer group managers. May interact with senior management. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. Typically one year of software engineering or related experience.

Job duties are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment. May have project lead role. 4 years experience with Core products or five years experience with Applications products and have a technical degree i.e., BS Computer Science/Management Information Systems/Science/ Engineering/Math/Physics/Chemistry with a 3.0 GPA OR (for Applications) proven professional/ technical experience, i.e., demonstrating an understanding of Applications at a functional and technical level (preferably Oracle)
