Are you ready to lead an engineering department responsible for developing world class ejection seats? Collins Aerospace is looking for an Associate Director of Engineering, a leader of leaders that manages a multi-disciplinary engineering organization chartered to develop cutting-edge Ejection Seats within Missions Systems.
The Associate Director, Engineering for Ejection Seats is accountable for cost, schedule and technical performance for all programs assigned to the organization. The leader directly manages Program Chief Engineers, Discipline Chief Engineers, and teams of engineers across various engineering disciplines. This position is the primary engineering point of contact for functional and business leaders.
Job Responsibilities:
Coaches and mentors team leaders as a subject matter expert in the development process
Directs multi-disciplinary organization of systems, software (limited), hardware, and project engineers in the development of ejection seats and escape systems
Builds strong teams to identify, recruit, retain, and develop software engineering talent across the spectrum of entry-level to very experienced software engineers
Creates and leverages networks within the broader engineering organization, across adjacent functions and business units, and with customers to achieve results
Manages long term staffing forecast and plan to support multiple business portfolios
Oversees department talent acquisition, retention, and succession planning for key roles
Approves technical approach, project plans and department bids
Coordinates department-level resource allocation, personnel development planning, employee performance reviews, salary planning
Drives continuous improvement activities and comprehensive resource training initiatives
Sets department vision and goals to support broader business and organizational strategy
Serves as engineering focal to program management and business development leaders
Builds and maintains customer relationships
Proactively manages emerging issues and develops future opportunities
Builds strong cross-functional relationships contributing to a positive work environment
Ensures compliance with Collins Management System; reviews and approves department bids and proposals

Basic Qualifications:
Must Be a U.S. Citizen
Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
Bachelor's degree and 10 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 8 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree a minimum of 14 years of relevant experience are required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience leading a multi-disciplinary organization of systems, software, hardware, or project engineers
Systems, hardware, or software engineering experience
Experience in Pursuit and Order Capture fundamentals and formal technical bid activities
Experience with design and development fundamentals and configuration management best-practices
Ability to effectively communicate technical approach, issues, risks, and status in both written and oral forms
A demonstrated ability to coach and mentor team leaders and to be a subject matter expert in the development process
Ability to effectively communicate technical approach, issues, risks, and status in both written and oral forms
Strong organizational leadership competencies (e.g., mentoring, conflict resolution, program management, strategic planning).
Experience with risk and opportunity management, including interfaces with cross-functional teams and external customer
Proficient in Earned Value Management
Experience working in a cross-functional team environment, establishing collaborative relationships with co-workers
Minimum of 10% travel will be required
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree in a technical field
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline
Active Secret Level U.S. DoD Security Clearance
Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
Experience in systems engineering of aircraft Escape Systems
Experience in hardware systems, mechanical engineering, and energetics

In compliance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the salary range for this role is $110,500 to $215,500; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills.
