Serco Fleet Mechanic I- 2nd Shift (2:30pm to 11:00 pm) in Colorado Springs, Colorado

Position Description

Join Serco as a 2nd Shift Fleet Mechanic in Colorado Springs, CO!

This position is contingent upon your ability to pass a preemployment criminal history check and drug screen.

Serco supports a large municipal and utility fleet (4,000+ units) performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing and repair of a diverse equipment set (light, medium and heavy duty diesel/gas cars/trucks; off-road construction equipment, snow plows, ATVs, Motorcycles, Generators, VAC trucks, and ancillary equipment). In this role, you will:

  • Operate automotive, construction and material handling equipment, hydraulic systems, and perform repairs.

  • Perform preventative maintenance duties. Inspect, repair, and replace oils, coolant, belts, filters, etc. as part of preventative maintenance to meet DOT standards.

  • Inspect, repair, or replace tires (cars, trucks, commercial heavy truck & trailer, off-road equipment, etc.) in accordance with industry and DOT standards.

  • Check and repair brakes, perform DOT Inspections, perform minor equipment troubleshooting & repairs.

  • Remove and replace vehicle components and perform minor welding repairs.

  • Provide clear and accurate information when entering work order data into a fleet maintenance system.

  • Perform customer service functions such as pick up and delivery of vehicles and minor garage service functions.

  • The list of duties does not include ALL duties that may be assigned to this position.


To be successful in this role you will have:

  • At least 1 year of related experience

  • High school diploma or its equivalent

  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record

  • Basic Windows System and Microsoft Office Knowledge

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customers

  • Must possess necessary skills to operate and interpret diagnostic equipment

  • Candidates must provide common technician hand tools.

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Diesel vocational/technical school certifications

  • ASE Certifications preferred or capable of gaining certifications within 12 months of hire.

  • Hydraulic experience preferred

  • CDL license or be able to obtain within 12 months of hire.
