MDA/GMR Readiness Program Engineering Technical Advisor for Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) system, infrastructure, and component level analysis. Intent is to shape the operations of the GMD weapon system within the broader Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS), working in a collaborative environment to focus on the Prime Mission Equipment (PME), Infrastructure, Site Operations, and Ops Availability to analyze performance, interfaces, and behaviors of the GMD weapon system to improve operations, substantiate future requirements, and develop capability improvement approaches.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following disciplines, Electrical, Computer or Systems Engineering or similar field and 8 years related experience. The candidate should possess the ability to define projects or programs greater than themselves. Candidate understands that he/she will be responsible for work and/or customer relationship development and will acts according to—and guides others toward—the proper balance of a) product depth with timeliness and b) technical improvements with programmatic constraints, even when hard compromises are required. Preferred candidates will be recognized by senior management as a thought leader. MUST HAVE A SECRET CLEARANCE


Specific support will include:

- Support assessments of the GMD system-level performance and behaviors;

This includes but not limited to:

  • Engagement planner performance and new capabilities

  • Future interfaces

  • Future sensor capabilities

  • BOA

  • Increased interceptors

  • Redesigned Kill Vehicle (RKV)

  • Multiple Object Kill Vehicle (MOKV)- Define, develop, and implement engineering trade studies; This includes but not limited to:

  • Failure Analysis

  • Eliminating single points of failure

  • System improvement for Mission Assurance

  • Risk Reduction

  • Obsolescence

  • - Analyze operational concepts, architectures, and component technologies;This includes but not limited to:

  • Potential CONUS interceptor site

  • Additional Radars and IFICS Data terminals

  • Capabilities

  • Placement

  • Space assets

  • Space Based Kill Assessment

  • Enterprise Sensors Lab Experiments

  • Cyber Security- Advise government on requirements, interfaces, and implementation approaches;

  • Modified Fielding Request List (MFRL)

  • Software Fielding

  • Deliberate

  • Urgent

  • Produce technical papers, analyses, and briefings to convey recommendations;

  • As needed

  • Travel extensively between Colorado Springs, CO; Vandenberg, CA; Fort Greely, AK; Huntsville, AL; and other industry locations.

  • Site Surveys

  • Technical Interchange Meetings

  • Process discovery/improvement
