Oracle Software Development Director (JoinOCI-Leader) in Colorado Springs, Colorado

Manage a team that designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.

As a director of the software engineering division, you will apply your extensive knowledge of software architecture to manage software development tasks associated with developing, debugging or designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications. Build enhancements within an existing software architecture and envision future improvements to the architecture.

Assists in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives. Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met. Ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

This is a remote/office based position which may be performed anywhere in the United States except for within the state of Colorado.

We are looking for someone who will come dream with us what the future of AI could be like. We’re looking for someone who can help us define what our north star should be and create compelling demo experiences that illustrate what the future could be like, shaping the future of our cloud services.

We’re looking for a special unicorn – an experienced developer that can quickly ramp-up on new technologies and new domains, but also someone who is passionate about customer experiences and the overall vision of the product and its business. We’re looking for someone who has strong cross-group collaborations skills and can build a small team around them, but also someone who is hands-on and can code and build using the latest and greatest software and AI tools. We’re looking for someone who is part-developer, part product-manager, part data-scientist, who likes talking to customers, designing amazing user experiences and building them.

You will take a key role in defining the next generation of AI services for OCI, working with our customers to understand their vision and requirements. You will partner closely with our engineering, data science, research, UX, field & marketing to build a product that customers need and love.

Your Qualifications

  • 7 years of relevant professional experience in software development

  • Experience translating customer needs into innovative products for customer-facing online products/services

  • Experience with machine learning / artificial intelligence and understanding of how to apply them to real world problems is a strong plus. Hands on experience training and/or deploying machine learning models is a strong plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or a related field.

  • Exceptional ability to negotiate and collaborate across groups to achieve customer success

  • Customer focus with experience working with enterprise customers and developers

  • Ability to work across teams in a large organization

  • Being enthusiastic, self-motivated, and a great collaborator

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
