City of Commerce City Greens Keeper III in Commerce City, Colorado
The Greens Keeper III works under the direct supervision of the Assistant Maintenance Supervisor, performing a wide variety of unskilled and skilled tasks at the golf course.
Scheduled between the hours of 5:00am and 1:00pm (may vary).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assisting the golf course personnel in the daily maintenance of the golf course, and preparing the golf course for daily play
Mowing the turf in a described manner (greens, tees, fairways, rough, and trimming)
Assisting the Irrigation Technician when needed (hand watering, hole digging, spot watering, and afternoon watering)
Assist in course inspections and repair; report any issues or concerns to the appropriate staff
Assisting as a lead worker on construction projects (landscape, shelters, new tees, signs and fence)
Assisting staff with fertilizer and chemical application on the course
Assisting with aeration of the Greens, Tees, Fairways, and rough
Working early morning start times, weekends, and holidays are required.
Janitorial work, cleaning course out houses, cleaning shop and office area and around the clubhouse
Assisting the pro shop staff with set up
May need to drive a City vehicle to and from other City departments or vendors
Assisting the Assistant Maintenance Supervisor as a lead crew worker over a 2 to 3 person project. Reporting to the Assistant Maintenance Supervisor
Assisting the Assistant Maintenance Supervisor in the training of Greens Keeper I and Greens Keeper II personnel
Maintain accurate, up to date records of all trainings
Assist with lock up procedures
Assisting the mechanic in equipment inspections and maintenance
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age and possess a valid Colorado driver's license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment. Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience working on a golf course. Should have a desire to work on a golf course; understanding of the game of golf is required.

Must have the ability to operate all golf course equipment
Must have a basic understanding of golf course maintenance practices

Driving: May drive a City or personal vehicle in the normal course of business
Office equipment: Occasional use of copier, fax, scanner, printer
Computer equipment: Occasional use of a computer; Microsoft Office applications
Other equipment: Hand tools, hammers, wrenches, shovels, rakes, power tools, saws, drills, riding mower, push mowers, string trimmers, power edger's, utility carts
Language skills: Reads and understands instructions; writes legible work reports and notes; communicates information and responds to questions individually and in small groups.
Mathematical skills: Performs simple mathematical calculations by hand or using a calculator
Reasoning ability: Applies common sense understanding to carry out simple written and oral instructions; deals with standardized situations or problems involving a few concrete variables
Physical activities: May include carrying, bending, sitting, stooping, walking, standing, running Kneeling, reaching, climbing, lifting, and sitting for periods of time
Lifting: Must be able to lift a maximum of 80 pounds
Vision and hearing: Must be able to read instructions and respond to spoken communications
Exposure to environmental conditions: This is an outside job and workers must be prepared for all weather conditions--Hot, dry, cold, wet. Workers may be exposed to fumes from equipment, paint, dust, smoke, fertilizers, and other chemicals, and exposure to loud noises. Safety gear will be provided as needed.
Salary: $14.75 - $15.65 Hourly
