SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
The Material Handler compiles and maintains material and parts inventory plus status information to ensure movement of material and parts between production areas.
REPORTING TO : 1st Shift Supervisor
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage inventory in the Steel and Finished Goods Warehouses – Receive/Pick/Restock
Stock shipping carts to proper storage location. Maintain proper housekeeping – remove straps, excess packing materials and shipping pallets
Identify need for additional inventory for packing items on KANBAN or Vendor Managed Inventory
Pick and stage warehouse orders – Pick and fill UPS line. Pick and stage LTL orders to pallets-
Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping of the Steel and Finished Goods Warehouses – Empty trash, sweep, discard empty pallets and recycle cardboard.
Display and enforce proper safety in the Steel and Finished Goods Warehouses.
Operates material handling equipment, i.e. forklift, reach fork, electric or hand mule, delivery truck, hoist and overhead crane.
Able to properly operate and utilize RF scanner in daily tasks.
Ability to research and resolve inventory issues
Moves accepted material to assigned locations using material handling equipment.
Pulls material as scheduled per work order specifications and delivers to assigned work center.
Moves product into finished goods and warehouse.
Weighs material and verifies counts by using appropriate scales.
Maintains paperwork as prescribed by departmental procedures.
Stages material at work station as required.
Uses computer as needed to perform job functions, utilizes MRP systems (JDE) to track and adjust inventory locations and consumption.
Participates in the continuous improvement process by attending meetings and presenting problems and possible solutions to the appropriate personnel.
Able to manage and complete special projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIRED ABILITIES:

Basic familiarity with computers.
Excellent math skills; addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Knowledge of the operation of material handling equipment.
Ability to pass BAND-IT’s forklift certification within 5 days.( Initial MH training)
Perform tasks with minimal supervision.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or GED
Upright forklift experience/certification preferred
At least 1 year of material handling experience preferred
