In the role of Pilot Brewer working at the Blue Moon Brewing Company in the RiNo District of Denver, you will be part of the Brewing Research and Development Organization. You will derive, plan, organize, and perform pilot brewing experiments for the purpose of product or process improvement and new product or process development. This role is also involved in brewing/packaging beer for commercial sales which requires knowledge of customer and associated legal requirements. Finally, you will contribute to a team of diverse pilot brewing professionals in the Miller Valley Brewery, AC Golden Brewery and Sandlot Brewery to support the accomplishment of the department, division and company goals.
This position reports to the Manager and Brewmaster of Blue Moon Brewing Company (BMBC) and its mission is to create, develop, and apply technical knowledge for producing, developing, and assuring superior quality products.
Corporate oversight for brewing procedures and processes, product and process improvement and consumer science, new product and process innovation, and applied brewing and technology.
Operate the 20 bbl brewery, setting and executing the BMBC brewing schedule, hands-on responsibility for producing quality beer in a safe manner and supervising contract employees.
Perform activities like CIP’s, cleaning and maintenance to maintain the BMBC brewery according to GMP and hygiene standards, and support training and participate in beer culture events
Assist the BMBC Manager Brewmaster in recipe development, trial brews, ingredient selection and oversee inventory and quality management of raw materials
This Pilot Brewer will contribute to a team of diverse brewing professionals to support the accomplishment of the department, division and company goals.
The Other Qualifications:
You bring a Bachelor of Science Degree, ideally majoring in one of the following: Fermentation Science, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering; Biology, Chemistry, Food Chemistry or Biochemistry
You will really stand out if you have an advanced degree in Fermentation Science, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering; Biology, Chemistry, Food Chemistry or Biochemistry
You love making beer, and have at least four years of experience in brewing or related field, especially working in a 10-50 bbl brewery
Theoretical and practical knowledge of Malting and Brewing
Theoretical and practical knowledge of Packaging, Engineering laboratory analysis, techniques and methods
You love a challenge. You complete complex projects quickly and adeptly with your understanding of the business priorities
You bring knowledge of brewing, brewing systems, brewing science, product and process development
You are confident and competent. You are diplomatic, professional and exercise great judgment in developing and maintaining excellent business relationships within the business

You have a Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration or another relevant field
