U.S. Army Medical Command Health Technician (Public Health/OA) in Fort Carson, Colorado
About the Position: The Health Technician works as a team member in a dynamic group that delivers primary preventive services to a diverse population. The Health Technician provides support to the operation with tasks such as coordination of community events, scheduling appointments, supply management and equipment maintenance. Position maybe filled at the GS-06 level, with promotion potential to the full performance GS-07 level or it can be filled at the full performance level, GS-07.
Conduct classes and behavior modification programs, including tobacco cessation, nutrition, exercise, weight control, sleep management, stress management, etc
Contact patients to change, cancel, and/or remind of upcoming appointments and make appropriate database requirements/changes.
Provide health education and counseling to a variety of clients in areas such as tobacco cessation, nutrition, weight control, stress management, physical fitness, sleep management and general wellness topics
Operate body composition equipment to determine the body fat and lean muscle tissue and provide feedback with a plan for the patient.

Specialized Experience GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes demonstrated experience assisting with counseling clients in areas such as tobacco cessation, nutrition, weight control, stress management, physical fitness, sleep management and general wellness topics; performing medical technical skills such as taking/recording vitals, height, weight, etc.; AND scheduling medical appointments in automated computer software. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
