Salary$65,742.00 - $80,073.00 Annually LocationFC 614 E Vine, COJob TypeRegularDepartmentFleetJob Number202100022 OverviewThis position plans, organizes, and manages a wide variety of skilled andsemi-skilled work involved in the repair and maintenance on a wide variety ofgasoline and diesel automotive, heavy trucks, light trucks, marine andconstruction equipment. This position oversees training and supervision oftechnicians and works as a liaison between Fleet Services and the operationaldepartments. This position will Input on purchases and disposals. Additionalresponsibilities include fuel tank maintenance, providing service to remotefleet locations and various administrative duties relating to equipmentmainten ResponsibilitiesSpecifically, this position:Oversees implementation of Larimer County's equipment preventativemaintenance program for the Heavy Duty shop.Develops, plans, and coordinates the weekly shop work load based onavailable work hours, required work hours for repairs, partsavailability, prioritize work keeping in mind forecasted weatherconditions, seasonal equipment, upcoming projects, incidents and emergencies.Works as a liaison between Fleet Services and operations to supportmaintenance scheduling, specific equipment needs and overall customer service.Maintains a safe, organized, and clean shop environment.Determines the cost effectiveness of repairs to equipment, theprioritization of repairs, and the available resources used to perform therepairs; monitor the budget.Reviews parts inventory and request storeroom to stock specialized andcommonly used parts, and ensure items meet manufacturer specifications andrecommendations.Monitors work for quality control and efficiency.Evaluates the heavy equipment replacement plan and suggest items forreplacement, utilizing understanding of asset management and equipmentpreservation techniques.Conducts annual physical inventory.Manages specialty programs such as oil analysis program, waste tiremanagement, specific equipment programming, diesel emissions program,over size over weight permits etc. to ensure compliance.Coaches, mentors, trains, and guides others on planning and performanceof maintenance activities, including technical aspects of equipmentmaintenance management.Reviews and approves reports, work orders, leave requests, timesheets, completed by employees.Runs various reports (inspections, material tracking, etc.) from dataentered into the system.To view the full job description, click .The ideal candidate will:Have a strong understanding of a preventative maintenance program.Be a reliable self starter since this position is independent.Have DOT experience and construction equipment (tandem dump trucks,loaders, rollers, trailers) experience.Have experience in shop management.Understand occupational hazards and standard safety precautions necessary inthe workplace.Be able to supervise, train, and evaluate subordinates.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other Countyemployees, representatives of other agencies and organizations, andmembers of the community. QualificationsFour (4) years of journey level experience in a directly related field orin the performance of similar duties and responsibilities including somesupervisory experience required.Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specializedor equipment repair training required.Possession of a valid Driver's License required.Possession of and ability to maintain a Colorado Class "A" CDL required.Maintain continuing education hours annually or as required.Possession of, or ability to obtain, Automotive Service of Excellence(A.S.E.) Master Mechanic Certificate required.Possession of, or the ability to obtain, D.O.T. Air Brake InspectionCertificate required.Possession of, or the ability to obtain, D.O.T. Commercial VehicleInspection Certificate required.
