DescriptionEntry level construction inspector and material tester.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform eachessential duty satisfactorily. Non-routine work maybe reviewed in process by supervisorAssist with assignments requiring independent and individual contribution.Assignments may include the application of engineering techniques fordesign, testing and maintenance.Will have complete responsibility for valuable equipment and material.Assignment may include the application of business decision making related toconstruction documents, agreements, design, testing, permitting, andmaintenance.QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: High School Diploma or GED.Required Work Experience: One year of experience in a civil construction or engineering workenvironment.Substitutions for Work Experience: Post high school education may be substituted for work experience, withtraining in a specialty field.OR Bachelor's degree with job knowledge may be substituted for the priorexperience.OR Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and trainingwhich provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be accepted.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Must have a demonstrated proficiency in three of the following areas:Use and application of County Code and Policy, CDOT Specifications for Roadand Bridge Construction, AASHTO, and any other applicable referencemanuals as a source for regulations to assignments and county service issues. Ability to read construction plans and provide infrastructure managementsupport. General understanding of all phases of construction inspectionincluding, but not limited to soils, asphalt, concrete underground andabove ground utilities, traffic control procedures, and reclamation procedures. Proficiency in all MS Office applications. Use and application of County policies, rules and regulations toassignments andcustomer service issues. Coordination with other Public Works Divisions and County Departments. Must possess a valid Colorado driver's license.Other Necessary RequirementsLANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technicalprocedures, or governmental regulations.Ability to efficiently and concisely verbally communicate, write reports,business correspondence, and procedure manuals.Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups,and/or boards.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratio, andproportions to practical situations. Surveying requires demonstrated knowledgeof coordinate geometry and mathematical understanding of horizontal andvertical curves.
