Job Summary:Under direct supervision, responsible for performing routine tasks andsimple analysis on hazardous waste samples utilizing proscribed procedures inaccordance with company and regulatory guidelines. Performs specializedanalysis utilizing laboratory methods with applied quality assurance andcontrol procedures. Maintains the laboratory as directed for compliance withcompany hygiene plans.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:* Perform testing of inbound and process materials in accordance with WAPusing a variety of fingerprint screens, cyanide analysis and other wetchemistry methodologies to determine nature of hazardous substance.* Ensure proper written and electronic documentation of all test resultsincluding QA/QC and audits sample documents prior to approval andcompleteness of summarizing data.* Gather appropriate paperwork for management approvals and notifies staff ofany incomplete sections needing attention. Documents non-conformance of testresults to WIP parameters. Compiles and reports analysis data includingQA/QC data for review.* Perform periodic audits of analytical logs to ensure federal regulationcompliance for completeness and error corrections.* Performs analysis using specialized equipments, such as: gaschromatographs, calorimeters, KF titrators, automatic/manual flashpoint tester* Assists facility personnel with approval paperwork to ascertain accuracy andenhance efficiency and effectiveness in the disposal of hazardous wastematerials.* Timely communication of test results to other departments.* Maintain proficiency of troubleshooting and maintenance of analyticalequipment and documents in accordance with quality assurance and controlcompliance.* Maintaining a current status for all training and certifications.* Preparation of standards and reagents.Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:* Perform lab housekeeping and sample management duties to ensure a clean andsafe work area. Labels lab waste containers and properly disposes of lab wasteper guidelines.* Sample a variety of incoming waste materials and determines properanalytical methods required for compliance in accordance with establishesguidelines and training.* Maintains chemical and supply inventory.* Preparation of standard chemicals when applicable.* Other duties and special projects as assigned.Education/Experience:* High school degree or GED required* No prior laboratory experience, 1-2 years laboratory or industryexperience preferred.Certification/Licenses:* 24-Hour HAZWOPER TrainingKnowledge, Skills and Ability:* Strong team player* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills* Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines* Strong customer orientation* Strong computational skills.
