Educational Resource and Disability Services SpecialistsMusts:Bachelor's degree, one year of educational experience and/or technicallibrary experience, high level of competency with computers, software,and ability to troubleshoot library systems and provide routine maintenance inconsultation with IT department as appropriate. Applicants must submit to andpass a background check before an offer of employment can be extended.Preferred: Bachelor's degree in library science, education, orclosely related field, a clear understanding of the functions of an academiclibrary and strong commitment to delivering quality services supporting thecommunity college and its curriculum, classroom or tutoring experience in anacademic library setting and experience with informationliteracy, Excellent written and oral communication, customer service,organization, and collaboration skills, Effective problem solvingabilities, evidence of ability to work independently and collaboratively,multitask, and prioritize, Supervisory experienceDuties:1. Assists the Coordinator of the Learning Commons with the overallplanning, supervision, and instruction of learning resources.2. Manages work-study students and Student Engagement: EducationalDevelopment team members.3. Supervises Learning Commons staff in Coordinator's absence.4. Assists the Coordinator in covering all hours the Learning Commons is open.5. Provides leadership in creating new concepts of use for the LearningCommons.6. Assists students with coursework, computer problems, and library resources.7. Connects students with campus resources (e.g. tutors, advisor, careercounselor, clubs)8. Coordinates summer camps and outreach activities.9. Assists in managing and maintaining the Learning Commons website and socialmedia platforms.10. Assists with managing the Auto-Graphics integrated library system andutilizes it to maintain the academic library catalog, track circulation,and facilitate inventory.11. Collaborates with Auto-Graphics and database vendors to troubleshootonline access or usage issues.12. Assists IT Technician in providing instruction and technical support forthe use of laptops and other media equipment available for loan, and helpsdevelop and update loan policies.13. In conjunction with IT technician, oversees and provides support andinstruction for the video editing labs.14. Catalogs online resources.15. Serve as the focal point for disability related initiatives.16. Receive documentation, determine accommodations and maintain records ofstudents with disabilities.17. Notify faculty of accommodations needed by students with disabilities.18. Evaluate and recommend assistive technology.19. Provide training for students, faculty and staff using assistivetechnology.20. Guide the College's efforts to move beyond compliance and towardseamless access through inclusion of individuals with disabilities.21. Continually improve the accessibility of our campus, programs andactivities for students with disabilities.22. Collaborate with governmental agencies and advocacy groups to makeinformed decisions and ensure ADA compliance with State and Federal mandates.23. Recommend accommodations to the Physical Plant Director and Human ResourceDirector.24. Performs other duties as assigned by the Coordinator of the LearningCommons and Student Engagement.25.
