Lockheed Martin Senior Software Engineer in Littleton, Colorado

Description: Provide software expertise and support to the Special Test Equipment (STE) team in LM Space. Our organization designs, develops, and builds STE to verify and validate Engineering Development Units (EDU) and flight hardware, for different DoD and commercial programs. National Instruments' LabVIEW and TestStand is heavily used in our organization, and the ideal candidate should be at an intermediate level with both software products from NI. This position requires working closely with the STE hardware team to understand how their STE design decisions affect software. In addition, the candidate will be interfacing with Certified Principle Engineers (CPEs) and the Test Engineering organization to understand test requirements, how our software and hardware (as an integrated system) will test flight hardware per those requirements. Candidate will be asked to provide on-call support for flight testing, during critical periods. Existing STE software will also need to be maintained and updated, so candidate needs to have a desire and willingness to dive into the code and learn what the software does, troubleshoot issues, and perform updates as required. Some travel may be required throughout the year to support test activities. Our organization also works with vendor-provided STEs and proprietary programming languages (both text based and graphical). The candidate should be open to learning different programming languages and the hardware they are associated with.

Basic Qualifications:

Desire and interest to work with test hardware and test equipment to develop test software

Experience troubleshooting hardware and software

Previous National Instruments LabVIEW and TestStand development experience

Experience in all phases of the software development life-cycle

Self-starter with ability to multi-task

Good communication and verbal skills

The successful candidate has the ability and willingness to remain flexible in work schedule and work non-standard hours or days as required to support the test team.

Position may require some travel to support test and integration efforts.

Desired Skills:

Superior communication and organizational skills, must be able to present detailed concepts.

Ability to lead the team through difficult troubleshooting activities in an organized manner.

Experience with Virtual Rack is also preferred but not required.

Thorough understanding of software process with a goal of continuous improvement
