Our Opportunity:

The Corporate Systems team in Charles Schwab’s IT organization is looking for a motivated Senior Software Developer to provide technical leadership on our suite of Securities Lending applications, including internal applications and vendor solutions. Working closely with our business partners, the successful candidate will bring a variety of skills to bear to lead technical efforts, communicate effectively with various teams, and deliver quality software in an agile development environment. In addition to providing guidance with the enhancement and maintenance of existing systems, the successful candidate will assume a technical leadership role in ground-up development and will participate directly in the evolution of system architecture and ongoing modernization efforts.

What you’ll do:

  • Take point on critical project, enhancement and other development endeavors

  • Engage with variety of staff: BSAs, Product Owners, Architects, Developers, QA, Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships and partnerships with team members and stakeholders

  • Lead and promote the Scrum Teams and overall Agile maturity efforts

  • Lead by example and provide direct mentorship to the junior developers on the team

  • Aid in delivering technical strategies and solutions, application development, and end-user services

  • See the big picture but also navigate the details

  • Work collaboratively as a team player to develop mutually acceptable solutions

  • Solve problems and provide support, taking responsibility to make decisions when appropriate

  • Take on diverse set of projects and tasks; be comfortable with vendor integration and internal development

  • Provide crisp and well-understood directives and communication

  • Communicate on a technical and non-technical level to all levels of staff and management

  • Track and manage dependencies across lines of business and platforms

  • Understand applications from a technical and business perspective

  • Thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment ; be comfortable with ambiguity

Wh at you have:

  • Highly skilled and experienced with distributed technologies , primarily C# /.Net, Java and SQL

  • Continuous Integration skills a plus, including BitBucket/Bamboo automated build/deploy solutions

  • Experience with cloud-ready platforms such Pivotal Cloud Foundry

  • A track record identifying and managing issues, risks and dependencies

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Excellent relationship management and mediation skills, with a knack for weighing multiple stakeholder perspectives and driving timely and effective decision-making

  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, prioritization, organization, and influencing skills

  • Familiarity with the financial services domain or a strong desire to learn about the industry

  • Experience in an Agile development environment desired

  • Team player with strong collaborative qualities and a positive demeanor

  • Ability to listen and encourage thoughts, opinions, and discussions where needed

  • Bachelors or Masters degree
