Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SMALL ARMS REPAIRER, Position Description Number D1227000 and is part of the CO CSMS 07, National Guard. The purpose of this position is perform maintenance, repair, and inspections on small arms and related devices. Responsibilities Performs accurization of national match weapons (pistols, rifles, and light machine guns) on a limited basis. Disassembles weapons, assemblies, subassemblies and other components. Performs overhaul, maintenance, and repair on a variety of small arms. Uses micrometer to measure altered tolerances and makes additional adjustments as required. Is responsible for accountability, storage and security of arms and other sensitive items while they are kept for repair, usually in vaults with limited access. May serve as a commodity inspector during Command Maintenance Management evaluations (COMET) or as a member of a Maintenance Assistance Instruction Team (MAIT). Performs other duties as assigned. Experience with substantial mechanical skill is required to effectively and efficiently repair, overhaul, and rebuild small arms for both conventional uses and for weapons involving accurization. 2. Experience to inspect, diagnose malfunctioning, wear and /or damage is required. 3. Experience applying technical manuals, regulations, specifications and drawings to determine operations, assembly and tolerances of the variety of weapons worked on is required for successful performance. 4. Experience using and maintaining a variety of hand and power tools and gages is required. Education Education cannot be substituted for Specialized Experience for this position. Per ARNG-HRH Policy Memorandum #10-39, mandatory Full Time Staff (FTS) training is required within a year of hire as a condition of employment in vacancy announcements for both Technician and Active Guard Reserve positions. Failure of new FTS personnel to complete NGB prescribed courses at PEC within the first year of employment may be cause for reassignment to other full time positions or termination of their employment. 11. Current COANG Technicians and AGRs hired for a position in which an MCR is required will remain in their current status unless/until the MCR is approved.
