Hach Company is seeking a Sr. Director, Global DBS who will provide strong leadership and partnership with L1 leaders and the President to improve performance enablement and achieve breakthrough results through the power of DBS. Champions the deployment and sustainment of DBS tools, methods & best practices, at times as a practitioner and other times as a coach. Works effectively with a small team of direct reports and matrixed DBS practitioners embedded in the organization to advance the business. Supports Policy Deployment objectives and works closely with the President to identify improvement opportunities.

The successful candidate will be hands-on and detail-oriented but also able to see the big picture. Must demonstrate the ability to think strategically and view the business from a general management standpoint. Must be very customer focused and have strong interpersonal and communications skills. Will need to be a quick study to rapidly adapt to Danaher’s culture and gain the confidence of the Danaher organization. This person will be high energy and able to handle conflict. Will be an independent worker, capable of operating in a fast-moving, ever changing environment and able to effectively deal with difficult situations.

Indirect Leadership

  • Serve as thought partner for the senior leadership team, working across the organization to challenge current state, pressure test assumptions and share best practices

  • Drive DBS Knowledge and maturity through the deployment of the Hach Knowledge management tool with the objective of driving awareness, utilization and certified practitioner of Key DBS tools

  • Support leaders in developing a highly engaged, high-performing, growth-oriented team

  • Ensure the team is doing the right things (focusing on the critical few) and doing things right (leveraging DBS and best practices)

  • Motivate the team to perform at their highest levels and effectively drive organizational change

  • Practice leadership style flexibility to ensure appropriate guidance and direction is provided

Drive Performance Enablement

  • Partner with the L1 team to achieve policy deployment objectives, core value driver targets by identifying and targeting process improvement opportunities

  • Coordinate PSP and Kaizen activities across the organization to focus on the critical few, eliminate waste or duplicative effort, and drive sustainable results.

  • In conjunction with the president, lead the annual President Kaizen, strategy to policy deployment workshop and facilitate key monthly L1 meetings

  • Maintain a cross functional Kaizen, PSP, Workshop funnel that is prioritized with the senior leadership team to ensure focus on the critical few with highest impact on strategic and operational goals

  • Directly provide formal and informal DBS training and coaching. Augment with other sources of training and coaching (Hach DBS team, DHR DBSO, outside sources). Improve DBS training and facilitation by pursuing certification in DBS tools for yourself and others. Evaluate and approve other associates for tool certification.

  • Identify best practices, standardize and share across regions. Benchmark and incorporate best practices.

Achieve Breakthrough Results Through the Power of DBS

  • Support functional leaders in every area of the business

  • Drive improved performance with vertical KPI teams by defining action-oriented Visual Daily Management (DM) that includes leading and lagging indicators.

  • Assist leaders to create a DBS Roadmap (how to use DBS tools to drive sustainable results) that includes additions/ refinements to the DBS growth toolkit.

  • Train and install foundational capabilities in PD, Action Planning, Key Performance Indicator (KPI) management.

  • Schedule, charter, and facilitate kaizen events across the company. Ensure effective sustainment of results and support problem solving as needed to close gaps to targets.


  • Master’s Degree in Business or equivalent

  • Minimum 5 years of DBS related experience with demonstrated success

  • Knowledge of key DBS growth tools: Kaizen, PSP, HVC, Problem to Portfolio, Voice of Customer (VOC), Customer Segmentation, Commercial Launch Excellence, Value Selling, Pricing Margin Management (or non-DHR equivalents)

  • Hands-on experience implementing improvements in a continuous improvement (DBS, Lean Six Sigma, TPS, etc.), line management or consulting role

  • Experience managing people and/or projects

  • Exposure to and participation in a wide variety of training and facilitation environments

  • Ability to analyze organizational capabilities, identify root cause and growth tool opportunities; has the skills necessary to be credible by peers and managers in commercial areas

  • Proven ability to consistently deliver business results

  • Ability to accurately assess key business metrics and situations from a “general manager’s” point of view; effective at structured problem solving and critical thinking

  • Ability to work with functions in the implementation of the DBS roadmap and implement key growth initiatives; successfully drives change, handles conflict / ambiguity

  • Mastery of fundamental DBS or continuous improvement tools

  • Superior skills in communications, training / adult learning, consulting / influencing; teamwork across disciplines, regions, and cultures

  • Demonstrated proficiency in time management and action plan development and execution

  • Computer skills (word processing, graphics, spreadsheet, etc.)

  • English fluency required

  • Domestic and international travel requirement is approximately 50%


  • Teamwork - must be able to lead a team(s) of Danaher employees from multiple disciplines and/or companies (Leadership Anchor, Builds People Teams and Organizations)

The salary range for this role is 151K - 235K. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
