Pueblo County Government Maintenance Technician III in PUEBLO, Colorado

Maintenance Technician III- Pueblo County Detention CenterEssential Job FunctionsPerforms general building maintenance, equipment repair, and minorconstruction projects at the Pueblo County Detention Facilities with closeproximity to inmates. Lock and unlock buildings as necessary. Remove ice and snow from all County property. Inspects buildings to determine if maintenance services are required. Set-up and tear down for events. Perform minor electrical repairs. Assist with loading, hauling and unloading various items, such asfurniture, supplies, equipment, and other items. Perform minor carpentry repairs and minor general construction projects. Perform minor plumbing repairs. Performs minor mechanical work on motors, boilers, and cleans/changesfilters on HVAC systems. Clean machinery. Maintain buildings and grounds including, commercial equipment repairs,general electrical and plumbing repairs, carpentry, and trouble shooting. Act as back-up for Support Supervisor in their absence. Set-up PA systems, telecommunications, and audio visual equipment. Subject to callback in emergencies after normal business hours Mondaythrough Thursday. Subject to on-call rotation. Repair and maintain industrial kitchen appliances for the Pueblo CountyDetention Facility where 3 meals are served 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Work with unusual demands such as lockdowns and interruptions from inmatemovements. Perform maintenance procedures and tool inventories to meet AmericanCorrectional Association (ACA) and Centralized Enforcement (ICE) standards. Work in an environment with inmates and understand that it is a no hostageenvironment. Primary work assignment will be at the Pueblo County Detention Center. Secondary work assignment will be in other facilities as needed. Performs other duties as appropriate/necessary for performance of the job.General Requirements Fill in for other staff as necessary and/or required. Attend meetings, classes, and trainings as required or requested bysupervisor. Encouraged to recommend changes to improve procedures that would result inefficiencies, cost savings, and safety. Communicate actively, clearly, and regularly with supervisor andco-workers on all work-related topics Understand, observe and comply with all Governmental, Pueblo County andDepartmental policies, procedures and protocols when performing job duties. Possess excellent oral and written skills to communicate effectively asneeded Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Pueblo Countyemployees from same or different departments/offices, entities, and customers.TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS / Knowledge, Abilities and SkillsFull Proficiency: Maintain sensitive and confidential information. Provide professional customer service to clients and public. Follow verbal and written instructions. Knowledge of safe handling of caustic, flammable, or other hazardousmaterials. Ability to operate standard office equipment, including typewriters,computers, computer software, calculators, printers, copiers,scanners, and facsimile machines. Basic knowledge of Direct Digital Controls (DDC). Able to perform minor repair HVAC equipment, pumps, and boilers. Knowledge of sound system set-up. Able to perform minor electrical repair, plumbing, constructions projects. Ability to work with and lead inmate crews. Knowledge in repair and maintenance of institutional locking devices andequipment. Knowledge of ACA and ICE compliance standards as they related tomaintenance procedures and tool inventories.Expert Proficiency: Ability to safely operate a variety of hand and powertools and equipment. Knowledge of reading electrical meters.Education: High school diploma or GED equivalency required.Experience:Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in buildingmaintenance required.Experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, irrigation,locksmithing and/or welding preferred.Licenses and/or Certificates:Valid driver's license at the time of applicat
