You also ensure that network operations are safe and efficient by monitoring network performance, coordinating planned maintenance, adjusting hardware components and responding to network connectivity issues. The Global Network Infrastructure team is responsible for the planning, analysis and acquisition of Google's peering and content delivery infrastructure. Our objective is to ensure accessibility to Google products and services, including Google Search and YouTube, and YouTube TV by working in close collaboration with strategic suppliers, ISP's and network operators worldwide. The team also works to interpret the demands from product and planning teams to meet the operational requirements for new products, services, and initiatives prior to launch.

Aa a Manager in Edge Operations, you will work with a distributed team of system and network administrators who specify, deploy, build, monitor, maintain and enhance the Google edge infrastructure. You will anticipate and meet operational requirements, while ensuring the smooth running of quality infrastructure and systems supporting the needs of the company. The need for quick change and versatility within small project teams means that job responsibilities cover a full range of tasks from systems design through operational implementation, maintenance and business partner support.

  • Manage and maintain multiple networking services at the edge of Google's delivery infrastructure.
  • Collaborate regularly with partnering ISPs and telecommunications providers to provide technical assistance, remote troubleshooting and IP networking support.
  • Collaborate with various network and software engineering teams.
  • Ensure the uptime and availability of Google's products.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Experience with full suite of TCP/IP-based protocols, with experience in routing and network management protocols.
  • Experience with networking systems, through the entire stack.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with network operations/engineering, with emphasis on the core Internet protocols such as MPLS, BGP, ISIS.
  • Developed coding skills in C++, Java or Python.
