Internal/External customerfocus to address complex issues. Helps to devise and implement improvementstrategies to processes, procedures and project flow in Sourcing.Investigates and analyzes suppliers financial condition, technicalcompetence, facilities and production techniques to ensure adequate suppliercapacity and capability. Analyze, develop, and implement strategies toreduce supplier lead time and improve on-time-delivery Purchasing requirementsfor assigned materials from approved and qualified suppliers in sufficientlead time to prevent material shortages, and recommend cost savingsimprovements. Ensuring that all activities are in compliance with companypolicies and practices. Resolve problems that arise in relation to deliverydates, quality, specifications, quantity or cost of purchased goods orservices. Reviewing requisitions and conferring with departments regardingrequirements, specifications, quantity and quality of merchandise, anddelivery requirements. Recommending alternate suppliers where a savings incost or improved delivery will result. Reviewing discrepant invoices on anexception basis which are not in complete agreement with purchase orders,and participate in internal meetings with suppliers as required. Issuingpurchase orders, negotiate contracts, and establish blanket orders thatmay include consignment stock. Investigating suppliers financial condition,technical competence, facilities, and production techniques to ensureadequate supply sources. Negotiate prices and follow competitive biddingprocedures when necessary to ensure the lowest total cost for specificmaterials, interacting with other departments when necessary.Expected Areas of CompetenceKnows the criteria, process and tools for measuring and recording purchasingperformance Ability to engage in basic contract negotiations and developcontracts in standard form; create basic project plans and manage sourceplan and implementation across functions and sites. Ability to analyze andevaluate quotations submitted by potential suppliers to assure that thequality, quantity, delivery terms, and costs are acceptable. Learns fromexperience, self motivated and knows when to seek assistance from purchasingmanagement. Demonstrates effective written and oral communication andpresentation skills Experience with ERP systems; SAP experience a plusAbility to prepare concise spreadsheets and present financial information ingraphical form to support procurement decision making. Working knowledge ofplanning and purchasing systems; accounting principles and budgetingpractices; Proficiency with personal computers and software, includingMicrosoft Office Suite (Excel and Word); effective analytical,organizational, and communication skills are required Strong Excel skillsutilizing pivot tables, formulas, vlookups, etc. strongly preferredEducation/Experience RequirementsBachelor of Science degree required; 5-7 years of purchasing experiencerequired or experience in related skill field (finance, accounting);or equivalent combination of education and experience.
